With the project Disconnected / Reconnected, artist Jonathan Wanders wants to excite and challenge people. To give rise to thoughts and conversations. It is a call for an open dialogue, in which the themes of freedom and connectedness are central, explored and questioned. Disconnected / Reconnected does this by seeking confrontation with our collective recent history and shows how it is connected to our situation today, as a starting point for conducting a dialogue.

On September 12, 1944, the liberation of the Netherlands began in Mesch, South Limburg. Close to Reijmerstok. Since that day we have been living in freedom. We have been free for 76 years.
But do we actually live in freedom? And who are we? If there is a we, there is also a they.
Do they also live in freedom? What is our responsibility as free (liberated) people? Is our liberation just a beautiful memory or is it a promise to future generations, anywhere in the world?

On March 24 2016, the artwork Rainbow was realized on the occasion of the TV series ‘Natuurlijk voor elkaar’ (‘Naturally for each other’), at the Meerse Kamp in Stevensweert (NL). Volunteers then laid out a new orchard and placed the artwork together with artist Jonathan Wanders. Rainbow marks the entrance of Stevensweert as a colorful landmark, situated on a large fishing pond in a beautiful, green environment.

At 't Ven in Nunhem (NL) there is a special, sacred atmosphere. An introverted place that reveals itself on the water of the forest in the Leudal nature reserve. On February 25, 2016, on the occasion of the TV series ‘Natuurlijk voor elkaar’ (‘Naturally for each other’), a short walking route was created and the forest was cleared. The central point in the route 'Ommetje Nunhem' is 't Ven, where you can enjoy the relaxing view on a bench. A place ideally suited to reflect, to come to your senses.

The art project Refugees (#1) depicted the timeless story of a recurring reality: the refugee theme. Every day, people all over the world are forced to flee their homes for fear of death or persecution. They only take what they can carry, away from poverty, hopelessness and oppression. When they cross international borders they are called refugees. They cross oceans and minefields. Many will never return. They risk their lives and their future.

If you want to keep history alive, you have to excite people again and again. The Remembrance Road art project was a lively, exciting and temporary monument. This second edition could be experienced from April to June 2015 along the provincial road N278 (connection Maastricht-Aachen), between Margraten and Cadier en Keer (NL) ánd along the thoroughfare at Henri-Chapelle (BE). This on the occasion of the annual Remembrance Day (May 4), Liberation Day (May 5) and Memorial Day (end of May).
